ACADEMICS

Academics at Western Educational Institute involves full-time day school for Form 1 to 5 students and SEA, CXC (CSEC/CAPE), GCE, IGCSE revision lessons.

A holistic approach to education should be the hallmark of all reputable educational institutions. A child who is the recipient of a balanced education would be able to make a valuable and significant contribution to the society. At Western Educational Institute students are motivated to achieve academic excellence. They also develop skills and values such as integrity, morality and spirituality that enable them to fully integrate into the society.

On January 8th, 2002 President Bush signed the No child left behind Act. Its purpose was to improve the education of all students. Fourteen years later, Western Educational Institute has taken up the mantle and is going for academic goal. The academic programme at Western Educational is structured to ensure that no child is left behind. The teaching styles adopted by the teachers cater to the needs of visual learners, auditory learners and tactile learners. Our teachers are encouraged to useeffecticve teaching methods in their classrooms, which includes the K.W.L. (Know-Want to know-Learned) method, students-centered teaching, scaffolding, as well as behaviorist approaches and humanistic approaches to teaching.

The saying “all work and no play makes Jack and Jill dull children” is taken seriously by our institution. Extra-curricular actives are integrated into the academic program. The students explore their prowess in competitions such as The Iron Chef and Science Fairs. These competitions also develop team work and research skills.
